April 24th - An Evening of Korean Art Songs
"한국가곡"

In the 1900’s western classical music was introduced to Korea. Over time Korean composers began fusing the European Romantic style with Korean folk melodies and poetry. These songs tell stories of  love, longing, leaving loved ones behind, home, war and nature— mountains, rivers, sea, birds and flowers.

This evening will include some of the most popular Korean Art songs such as Song of My Hometown (고향의 노래), Narcissus (수선화), Pioneer (선구자), Barley Field (보리밭), featuring 4 Bay Area Korean- American Opera Singers: Sopranos Yoonsil Kae (계윤실) and Shawn Kim (김선주), Tenor Michael Kim (김상민), and Bass Andrew Chung (정종철).

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear music that is rarely performed!
